Strategic communications of greening Ukraine together with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine

At the beginning of the 2022, the Institute of Cognitive Modeling started to cooperate with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine within the framework of the Green Country project of the President of Ukraine’s Program «Extensive afforestation of Ukraine».

A number of sociological studies have been conducted to determine public opinion and issues. The communication strategy of the «Zelena Kraina» project has been developed, triggers and barriers to public support for the greening program of Ukraine have been identified; stages and priority accents in communication with Ukrainians on the topic of greening the country have been developed.

As a result, the team of the Institute of Cognitive Modeling held a meeting-presentation for more than 100 employees of forest districts from all over Ukraine in the format of a live discussion.

«Coronavirus_info» pro bono community project in Viber and Telegram

At the very beginning of the quarantine, in order to avoid information panic and timely inform Ukrainians about the epidemiological situation, the Institute of Cognitive Modeling created a «Coronavirus_info» pro bono project.

The communities of the same name in Viber and Telegram have become the only verified by the Ministry of health of Ukraine and credible information sources regarding the coronavirus situation in Ukraine.

> 3 500 000 subscribers

  • In 3 days, the community became the largest in Ukraine and in the midst of the lockdown had more participants than the top-5 Viber communities of Ukraine together

> 870 000 subscribers

  • In the midst of a lockdown, the channel was the first most popular and second most cited among government communication channels
  • It had 6.7 times more subscribers than all the government Telegram channels together

The main project goal was to create trustworthy information platforms about the spread of COVID-19 for Ukrainians.

Project data:

  • 7 people were in charge of «Coronavirus_info» communities
  • At the peak of the lockdown the community numbered about 4.5 million subscribers, exceeding niche TV channels
  • Depending on the period and the general epidemiological situation, there was 10-15% fluctuation of the audience’s attention to the resource
  • One day publication coverage reached 2.9 million users in average, at the peak of the lockdown it was 497,000
  • «Coronavirus_info» was among top 10 resources most commonly read by Ukrainians
  • Thanks to fast and transparent communication with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the assistance of mobile operators, it was possible to cover even a larger amount of Ukrainian audience. So, about 32 million SMS-messages were sent before Easter

The campaign to counteract coronavirus infection «Coronavirus_info» was shortlisted for the international European Excellence Awards 2020 in two categories: «Issues & Reputation Management (Covid-19)» and «Multi-Channel Communications».

Content of the Channel

Educational community «School_info»

Educational community «School_info»

In October 2020, with the support of Viber, the Institute launched «‎School_info»‎ educational community with accessible and clear guidelines about education in the period of the pandemic. With the beginning of the school season, the Institute’s team noticed a lot of information rapidly changing in educational field, thus, causing confusion. Therefore, the decision was made to create a community for parents where they could receive trustworthy information directly in the Viber messenger about the operation of Ukrainian schools in the period of pandemic.

> 780,000 subscribers

joined the community on first day on the project «‎School_info»‎

The main goal of the project is to create a trustworthy source of information for parents, teachers and students in the educational field during COVID-19.

According to representatives of the Institute, in times of coronavirus, people are in even greater need of verified information. To meet this demand, the School Info community was created.

Channel Content

A separate visual color is used for each section in the «‎School_info»‎ community. Blue for educational news, orange for teachers recommendations, green – recommendations for parents, red – stopfake.

>390 000 subscribers

The Institute of Cognitive Modeling, supported by Viber, has also developed a School Chat thematic sticker pack, which helps to facilitate communication in school chats.

School Chat thematic sticker pack presents the most common phrases from school life, including «What is our homework?», «You are not listening to me at all!», «May I go out?», «Who knows the schedule?». Furthermore, stickers might help students, teachers and parents apologize for being late and subtly inform about money collection.

You can download the stickers at this link.

«School_info» community during the war in Ukraine

In the first days of Russia’s war against Ukraine, «School_info» launched an educational initiative for schoolchildren, when the children went on forced «vacations» and instead of studying, spent days and nights in shelters.

Initially, a temporary syllabus for Primary School students was developed together with the «Basis» School. It contained assignments in English, mathematics, logic, spelling, science, reading, physical education. Every day, according to the schedule, students received assignments and took lessons.

Subsequently, in partnership with Modern School, the learning process for students of grades 5-9 has been launched.

Together with the «11-A» Educational Center, the Institute of Cognitive Modeling launched optional classes for high school students that helped prepare for National Multisubject Testing and expand their horizons during the war.

A separate area in the community focuses on internally displaced persons from Ukraine who moved to Europe and need to resume the educational process for their children abroad. The task of «School_info» is to help people go through this adaptation process and provide them with the necessary information.
